During one of the modules on my degree I completed a D&AD New Blood Awards brief for Hasbro, the brief was to reinvent an old or forgotten game. I chose to reinvent the 1980's board game Mid Life Crisis as it was very difficult to play and the jokes were outdated. The way in which I chose to reinvent the game was to centre it around creative professionals and designers, the cards were designed to reference the creative industry but not alienate a non-creative a consumer market. I used crop marks and the CMYK colours as a recurring theme as they are identifiable as symbols of design. The use of white space gives Creative Crisis a clean and professional look as well as the use of Helvetica, an iconic typeface for minimalism and the Swiss movement in design.
